Married

Us

On Saturday AJ and I signed our "Civil Partnership" contract - which would be called marriage but for the objections of the churches.

Had a lovely weekend with friends and family, although some of the goodbyes were very sad as we know we wont see some of them for a while.

You both look soooo handsome!! It looks like it was a fun party!
I am inspired.....Larry and I have been together for 30 years this year but we have not got around to getting married.......... yet.
Our daughter got married last year....interesting how life works!
By the way, our "downshiftme code-cracking prize" arrived....I'm just waiting for Larry to get home to open it!

Saturday was also the 15th anniversary of AJ moving to Leeds (so we could be together).

The law has only just changed in the UK introducing civil partnerships for gay couples (December 2004).

It does simplify tax and inheritance and "next of kin" rights in the UK and that is part of the reason for us doing it. I suppose also if you fight for equality you have to take advantage of the rights you get given.

It was also a nice excuse for a party with friends and family to say goodbye.

If you two fancy it - I say "go for it". We will need to post photos on downshiftme though.

Perhaps you should get married in Bear River :)

Hi you Guys,
Hope you will both be very happy and good luck in all that you do.
Take life, look it full in the face and embrace it.
God bless.
