Stuff we have done
Yesterday we visited the Port Royal Habitation. This was originally an Acadian log settlement that was built in 1604 by French Nobleman Pierre Dugua, the Sieur de Mons, who was a merchant, explorer and colonizer.
The Brits burned it down in 1607 when they were all out...
In 1939 a replica was built by ship builders using descriptions and etchings. I was really impressed by the quality of the craftsmanship and the attention to detail that was put into the project. It is a visually stunning settlement and a credit to the Province. I heartily recommend a visit if you are in NS.
We took a few photos while we were there.

Looks wonderful....how many buildings were there in the original settlement do they think?
I think there were about 17 buildings, because they were built by boat builders, they all have amazing joists and joins
You'll have to visit "the tangled garden" at grand pre. They grow all their own herbs for the fabulous jams and jellies that they sell at shows across Canada. You can walk around their gardens...it's amazing what they've been able to do with just a few acres.
