Quick update – famous last words? Almost didn’t do one but thought we would just make it speedy instead.
Windy – leaves blown from the trees.
Power on and off – need a UPS not a generator I think. Bought a propane camping stove to add to our emergency kit.
AJ College update – getting wet. Placement week.
Driving lessons - been a busy week for AJ
Job hunting update – lots of applications, one interview, one place not hiring yet – so not as bad as a complete rejection. Had to be quite pushy which is not really like me.
Has been getting me down a bit. As usual I expect things to happen immediately and panic when they don’t. Like selling the house – on the market a week and we worried we didn’t have anyone buying it.
Project blind – successes and setbacks.
Frenchys
Battery runs out.
New dining table – needs restorating, restoring, renovating or re-finishing.
Bad things
AJ – bus journey getting tedious
Matt – job hunting
Good things
Matt – our table
AJ – Veseys Seeds

Hope the job interview went well Matt sure there must be something for you particularly coming up the christmas season and AJ hope the cold is clearing up. Learning to drive must be easier in NS not exactly much traffic that ive seen allthough those four way stops can be confusing.
Hello guys, Glad to hear you are doing allright up thre in the middle of nowhere. Your still on dial up out there? Hope you find a job soon Matthew!
BTW, someone must have asked this already but here goes: What does you two miss the most from the UK?
Hi Arno,
Yes still on dialup - which means I probably miss broadband most of all as you mention it.
I went to the library yesterday with my laptop to download IE7 and do some other updates.
Apart from that I think its mainly friends and family, knowing how everything works (as you know its odd things you find you don't understand in a new country) and also having a regular salary!
It would be interesting to compare notes on what you found strange when you first moved to the UK - to see if there are any similarities to us moving here.
If you guys are looking for seed catalogues, try the following [all free and all have online cat requests & ordering]
www.stokeseeds.com <--- nice quality, good selection and reasonable shipping time.
www.richters.ca <--- madcap selection, you'll drool over all the herb seeds, great quality and good shipping time
www.halifaxseed.ca <---- nice quality, easy store access down in Halifax, shipping time oddly slow for a local store. Nice stuff, but have the order picked up in the store. Personally was very happy with their glads this year.
Myself, I've found vesey seed have not faired well. Could be just me, but I am always iffy on ordering from them. Some things do great others barely grow and their seeds don't see to germ. as well as others.
January gardening catalogue season! Whoot!! Like a second christmas.
Cheers
