We're back...

Yes, phone got put back on and we now have Spencer with us and all our possessions. It feels so much more like home now we have our stuff. Still lots to unpack but we are pretty organised I reckon.. considering.

Hopefully podcast this weekend to catch up.

Will tell you about the sad demise of my laptop. Sadly we missed the first Atlantic Podcasters meet up since we have been here - hopefully we will be there at the next one.

As we are dialing up it may end up as two podcasts if we go on too long as file sizes can be a real problem for us.

The deer also came back while we were eating breakfast the other morning:

You may also spot the new weather station in the corner of the pic. It is on its "temporary mounting" (two drawers we found in the workshop) at the moment.

Offline due to technical hitch

Our phone line is broken - so be offline for a while. Will post when back.

Aliant have missed one appointment and seem a bit useless in the information/customer service stakes!

Wildlife Visitors

So far... deer - two little ones and mother. Only captured one on camera.

Close up of deer in garden

Then about an hour later, a fox.

Fox

Not sure what to expect next.

We have decided the crows are actually ravens not crows, and they seem to have gone today.. not sure if that is a permanent exit. The bluejay is very noisy and making up for the lack of ravens.

Its a bit different from Leeds - although we did have a fox that marched up the garden and stood on the patio and looked at us through the french windows once.

Moving in Early

Well, the money transferred more quickly, so we have the keys for the house and about to move in. That is the end of our cabin experience and its fast broadband.. but at least we are going to be in our home.

It felt great when Chris, our Real Estate agent left us there... really great.

Stuff we have done

Yesterday we visited the Port Royal Habitation. This was originally an Acadian log settlement that was built in 1604 by French Nobleman Pierre Dugua, the Sieur de Mons, who was a merchant, explorer and colonizer.

The Brits burned it down in 1607 when they were all out...

In 1939 a replica was built by ship builders using descriptions and etchings. I was really impressed by the quality of the craftsmanship and the attention to detail that was put into the project. It is a visually stunning settlement and a credit to the Province. I heartily recommend a visit if you are in NS.

We took a few photos while we were there.

IN CANADA

Would you believe it.. we are in Canada.. finally.. through immigration, got a car (thank you Avis - no thanks to Thrifty and BIG thanks to Carolyn).

Need to sort out lots to do with the house, starting tomorrow with a meeting with a lawyer. Tonight we are staying near Halifax as we weren't sure how long all the bureaucracy would take - but it was quick.

Not sure where we are staying until the house is ready - somewhere cheap and cheerful in the valley :)

We will podcast this weekend.. from Nova Scotia again.. whoopie!

Homeless

Worldly goods on way to Canada

Our worldly goods are on the container headed for Canada.

We are now in Suffolk at my mother's house. We are going to try to post a podcast from here this weekend.

Wasn't too sad leaving the house as it all seemed so long in the preparation. Sad to say goodbye to our chickens though.
