Podcast 46 - one year on

Click for audio
Right click the orange podcast logo above and "save file as" or "save target as" to download (20.6mb) or here for the dialup version (11.8mb) or here for the special higher quality version (96k) which weighs in at a modem-busting 35mb.

This is the first podcast of the year and our "review of the year". Our first ever podcast was on 30th December 2005 so this is our one year anniversary of podcasting.

It lasts for 50 minutes so have uploaded an even lower quality than usual version for our dialup listeners plus the normal 56k version which is included in the podcast feed.

Excellent podcast! Thanks so much for sharing the summing up of the first year. You both have done so much and are to be applauded for your persistance in pursuing your dreams and goals.
Matt, you mentioned that you were surprised about the day to day money aspect....what did you mean by that? Did you mean that things cost more than you expected? I think that you describe this as the most difficult part of the adjustment, but I wasn't sure what you meant by that.
I think it's amazing how well you have both adapted to life on your little farm.
Larry and I were excited to see your garden layout...I can't wait to see what AJ plants. I like too how you've moved some trees around outside.
Keep up the good work and Happy New Year!
Flora

First of all a bashful thanks for the bit at the beginning....not necessary really. Although I hven't seen you both for a while you have to realise that the feeling is mutual.....both of you have given me emotional support at times and your podcasts are something I really look forward to every week.

Its been a real virtual journey from that very first podcast (glad you replayed it) to where you are now....in Nova Scotia making a different life for yourselves with all the joys and difficulties you will face along the way. Your podcasts reflect and discuss these issues and for anyone considering moving away from the Uk and making such big life changes you tell it how it is from your own experiences.

I know exactly what you mean with the day to day expenses being quite costly when you have little income coming in....as a family of 5 we struggle with this all the time and I am always trying to find ways of pinching pennies or dreaming of ways to earn money so this aspect can be quite worrying.

So just really wanted to say that I hope your happiness continues and will be following your journey as it continues

C xx
